As the internet grows more start-up companies find there way online, to compete with the best you have to ideally make yourself the best, right down from your content to your design everything must be done in a unique and specific way. We will now take a look at a few factors which you should make sure that you get perfect and a few factors which you should try to avoid.

First and foremost the web is an open world and users love to surf through pages and pages to find what they want. It\'s a bit like reading a newspaper; if a story does not catch the reader\'s attention then they will just turn over to the next page. The internet is exactly the same, but probably that little bit more difficult, as internet users tend to be a lot fussier. So research has shown that you probably have around 5 seconds at the maximum to grab the user\'s attention, and keep them locked onto that specific page or site.

A good way to do this is via images and content, the biggest sites on the internet are probably the news sites such as CNN and BBC, and the reason they are so popular is because of constant updated content. The internet was created to share information with people all over the world, and although the net it growing at tremendous speeds, the core value will never change. People, sites and search engines love content. The more you give them the happier they will be.

So taking all of this into account, if you are trying to sell a product and just have an image with no information, no testimonials and in fact no reason for people to even spend there time looking at it, then you will not be as successful as you want. Pulling users in is the key, and you can do this in various ways, initially you could have an eye catching advert that will grab the user\'s attention and then keep them interested by giving them useful copy, which will make it hard for them to walk away from a potential purchase.

Finally what I see a lot and one of the biggest mistakes that new sites make, is that they try to over load a page with too much. Too many images, too much technology and potentially too much text. Although all of these can be very helpful, if you overdo it will make the site very off-putting to users and search spiders.
